Another reason that I haven't written for so long is that I often feel like I don't have much adoption-related to talk about - here or in general. Surely I think about adoption a lot, but somehow those thoughts don't turn themselves into things I want to write about. However, here are some adoption-related things that have been on my mind of late:
- Somehow I missed this as it was happening, but I recently came across this interview/blog post by an adoptive mom who terminated the adoption and placed her child with another adoptive family. I feel so much for everyone involved in the situation, especially this little boy.
- Our agency had stopped accepting prospective adoptive parents for a while, and it looks like they are once again accepting applications. Hmmmm... this has me thinking a lot more about #2. There are days that I was to rush right into it full steam ahead, and days when I have major doubts.
- We had an amazing reunion with the other families that were in our homestudy group lately. It was so beautifully overwhelming for me to see us all together again, in such different situations than when we met.
- I have a lot of guilt about not keeping up with correspondence with little A's first mom, even though I know that she hasn't received a letter since the first few months of A's life. I have a running letter to her in my head, it just hasn't made it on to paper yet. The reason she doesn't receive the letters is because she would have to come to the agency to get them - they (nor we) can't send anything to her house due to privacy concerns. We know that she hasn't been in touch with the agency since little A was about 4 or 5 months old. Still, I want the letters to be there for when (I'm being hopeful) she can get to the agency to pick them up.
In other general news - little A is turning TWO in less than a month. Can't. Believe. It. She is a full-on toddler with all her opinions, independence, attitude, new vocabulary, and all kinds of new ways to communicate with us. She is amazing, simply put. :)
I hope I am back to stay for a while here on this blog. I do love this community of bloggers in the adoption world, and I'm hoping that keeping me writing here will keep me more in touch with all of you.
